Hyderabad: The national BJP leader and former Union minister, Mr Bandaru Dattatreya, has urged the Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, to take immediate steps to undo injustice meted out to Hyderabad freedom fighter, Mr Jagdish Arya, by the Revenue department and recommend his name to be included in the honour list of freedom fighters for President’s award on he eve of 69th anniversary celebrations of Quit India Movement on August 9 in New Delhi.

In a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister, Mr Dattatreya stated that a section of the media had reported that Mr Jagdish Arya known as “Nizam Bomber” was in the honour list of freedom fighters, who would be felicitated with President’s Award on August 9. However, Mr Jagdish Arya’s name was deleted from the honour list by the Revenue authorities at the instance of the MIM leaders, which is a great insult to the history of freedom movement.

He further stated that nonagenarian Mr Jadgish Arya is one of the veteran freedom fighters and the people of Hyderabad were very happy on knowing that he would be felicitated by the President of India on August 9. However, their happiness was shortlived as the Revenue authorities of Hyderabad deleted his name at the behest of the influential MIM leaders. He urged the Chief Minister to take an initiative and restore honour to the 90-year old Hyderabad freedom fighter.
