Hyderabad: Three-day “Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaigns” will be organized this year to make the people at the gross root level conversant with various schemes and services being offered by the several departments of the Central and State governments as well as the Public Sector Undertakings, said the Additional Director General (M& C) of the Press Information Bureau, Mr M V V S Murthy.
Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Mr Murthy said that the campaign aims at creating awareness among the common man about his/her legal entitlements, empowerment and the employment opportunities available to them. “The focused areas of the campaign are the six components of the Bharat Nirman programme like the rural roads, drinking water supply, rural electrification, rural housing, irrigation and the rural telephony, and the other flagship schemes of the Central government such as the National Rural Employment Guarantee programme, the ICDS, Mid-Day Meal Scheme, the 15-point programme for the welfare of minorities, the National rural Health Mission, the JNNURM and the Right to Information”, he added.
Mr Murthy said that various departments of the government, the Public Sector Undertakings and NGOs would put up their stalls and organize meetings, symposia, public meetings and cultural events to apprise the common people of the programmes undertaken by them. He also said that public representatives, ministers and district officials would take part in the three-day events and distribute loans, certificates and other elements meant for the purpose among the beneficiaries.
Mr Murthy said that unlike this year, the information campaign lasted five days last year. The campaign held at 14 places in our State as well as in Bangalore, in which about 40 stalls were put-up for the purpose. (NSS)
