Hyderabad, Feb.9 (NSS): The Bhilwara Natya Puraskar, which is a novel endevour by LNJ Bhilwara Group to promote Hindi theatre in the country, has announced its second edition for this year. The Puraskar, which was constituted in 2010 is a unique effort to promote this art form. Chairman Emeritus of business conglomerate LNJ Bhilwara Group, Mr LNJ Jhunjhunwala conceived of this idea along with many luminaries in this field.
Mr Jhunjhunwala said, that beginning 2010, the award is now to be given every year to two outstanding theatre productions in Hindi, preferably of original and fresh plays written in Hindi, or of any Indian language, but translated into Hindi. Plays original to all native Indian languages written in ancient, medieval or modern times are welcomed. The award is for not only the written script of the play but for the production as a whole and will be given to a team on all counts such as direction, acting, etc. that constitute a dramatic performance.
The Awards Committee has announced that this year all the plays staged between April 2010 to March 2011 shall be eligible for application, if they are in Hindi. Participants can submit their entries either in a CD or DVD latest by April 30 this year, after which the Jury shall evaluate each play on its merit and shortlist three.
