Hyderabad: In the wake of the CAG report revealing several irregularities in the much-trumpeted “Jala Yagnam” works, the Bharatiya Janata Party has demanded that the State government determine and choose very important works before execution.
Addressing mediapersons in the State BJP office here on Friday, the party general secretary, Mr N Ramchander Rao, said that the people in the State have several doubts about Jala Yagnam after the CAG reported many irregularities in the execution of works. Mr Rao said that during the party’s Jana Jagaran programme in the State recently, people all over the State bemoaned about misappropriation of public money in the execution of irrigation and other local projects.
Under the circumstances, the government has moral responsibility to explain to the people about allocation of funds for each project, money advanced to the contractors and to what extent the works were completed, he said, adding that the government should call an all-party meeting to clear doubts about the Jala Yagnam.
