Hyderabad, Feb.15 (NSS): The State Bharatiya Janata Party has hailed the Supreme Court directive to the State government on Tuition fee reimbursement to the SC, ST, BC and Minority students.
In a pressnote here, the State BJP president, Mr G Kishan Reddy, recalled that the Apex Court had directed the State government in September last year to release fee arrears in three installments. But on pretext of process of scrutiny of applications of the students, the government had appealed to the Court through Solicitor General to grant time to clear the entire amount by January 29 as payment of first two installments was not possible, he said, adding that the Court once again censured the State government for seeking time.
The BJP leader has demanded that the government even now immediately release the fee arrears, scholarships and mess charges and stop playing with the lives of poor students. Stating that the students were undergoing mental torture at the fag end of the academic year due to inordinate delay in clearing the arrears by the government, Mr Kishen Reddy said that the students were not able to concentrate on their studies. An example for this was the suicide of a girl student Varalakshmi recently, he added.
The BJP leader has demanded that the State government comply with the Supreme Court directive and save the future of the students by releasing the tuition fee arrears of Rs 3,450 crores immediately. (NSS)
