Hyderabad: The YSR Congress Party on Thursday scoffed at the statements made by the newly named Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana that he has a ‘master plan’ to induce the Congress Legislators supporting Kadapa MP-elect YS Jaganmohan Reddy, by saying that the Transport Minister first soothe ruffled feathers in the ruling party.
Talking to media persons at Sagar Society, YSR Congress Party leader and former Advisor to the state government CC Reddy said that the higher echelons of the state Congress were a divided lot after the appointment of Mr Satyanarayana as the PCC chief, with Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on tenterhooks himself.
“Mr Satyanarayana’s appointment as PCC chief has left the Chief Minister on the edge, as Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy fears that his rule could be threatened. He (Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy) is trying to keep his head afloat,” Mr CC Reddy stated.
The former Advisor to the state government added that, “Mr Satyanarayana is making outlandish statements, trying to project himself as someone who can influence the MLAs. He is doing so, because he knows that he cannot live up to the expectations generated by his appointment.”
Mr CC Reddy further revealed that Mr Satyanarayana was afraid that he would not even get a party ticket before the 2004 general elections. “I know all about him, know about his apprehensions and his fears,” the YSR Congress Party leader said.
He further said that Mr Satyanarayana’s appointment would not hit the onward march of the YSR Congress Party in the state. “If anybody from Congress tries to obstruct the YSR Congress Party’s growing influence, it would boomerang on them and cause a huge damage to the ruling party and the government,” Mr CC Reddy asserted.
The senior leader further opined that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy should have tendered his resignation from his post after seeing the YSR Congress Party’s performance in the by-elections to Kadapa Parliamentary and Pulivendula Assembly seats.(INN)
