The state Congress president and transport minister, Mr Botsa Satyanarayana, said though all ministers including him were responsible for all decisions taken during the regime of the late Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, they were not responsible for the alleged underhand dealings between Emaar Properties and Andhra Pradesh Industries Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC).
Speaking to newsmen at Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday, Mr Satyanarayana said he had as industries minister issued orders on allotments to Emaar but APIIC had not implemented the orders. Instead, he said, it had taken decisions on its own.
“As a minister I cannot oversee whether the GOs are implemented or not. The government issues orders that are supposed to be implemented by corporations like APIIC. In this case they were not,” he added.
Mr Satyanarayana said it is up to the CBI to investigate the case and, if the agency needs, to question Emaar land allottees. He ridiculed Kadapa MP, Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s claim that the petitions filed against him in the Emaar-APIIC land deal are part of a conspiracy to defame him.
“I don’t understand why he is so critical of the Congress. The government did not order the CBI probe, the high court did. It would be better for Jagan to prove his innocence in court. Why is he afraid of the probe if he is not guilty?” the PCC chief asked. Deccan Chronicle
