Hyderabad: Condemning the assault on Chander Rao, Officer on Special Duty at Andhra Pradesh Bhavan by Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLA Harish Rao in New Delhi, Telugu Desam Party state general secretary Varla Ramaiah on Monday alleged that the both the Centre and state government lack the guts to arrest the TRS leader.

Talking to media persons at NTR Trust Bhavan, Mr Ramaiah demanded the arrest of Harish Rao for attacking Chander Rao, a Dalit employee in the Andhra Pradesh Bhavan.

“If the government arrests Harish Rao, its image would be lifted and people’s confidence in the justice system would be improved,” Mr Ramaiah stated.

“Though no one is above law, the government has been following an anti-Dalit stand and was harassing them,” the TDP general secretary said.

Responding on Minister for Social Welfare Pitani Satyanarayana move to close social welfare hostels whose strength is below 100 inmates, Mr Ramaiah said the move would jeopardise interests of Dalits and they would be distanced away from education.

He warned the Minister that TDP would intensify its agitation if Mr Satyanarayana did not withdraw his decision immediately.(INN)
