Hyderabad: The Chief Electoral Officer, Mr Bhanwar Lal, on Saturday reviewed the law and order situation and security arrangements for polling to be held on Sunday for by-election of
Kadapa Parliamentary Constituency and Pulivendula Assembly segment.
The CEO held the meeting with DGP, Mr Aravind Rao, and the Intelligence Chief, Mr Mahendar Reddy, in his chamber in the Secretariat and discussed the security arrangements to be taken on polling day at the polling booths. He also directed the police officials to concentrate on sensitive and hyper sensitive polling stations and deploy required policemen to avert any effort to disturb the polling
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Mr Aravind Rao said that the police forces and Central forces were ready to carry out their duties in Kadapa Parliament Constituency and Pulivendula Assembly segment by-elections. Additional forces from Kerala and Tamilnadu have
reached Kadapa, he added.
He made it clear that the police on their part completed all measures to ensure free and fair polling. The identified sensitive and hyper-sensitive polling stations would be under close observation of
the police, he added. Steps have been also taken to check the distribution of the money by the contesting candidates to influence the voters.
He also asked the voters of Kadapa Parliamentary Constituency and Pulivendula Assembly segment to exercise their franchise without ‘fear’. (NSS)
