Chain Snatchers Gang Busted

Hyderabad, Feb.12 (NSS): The Police have arrested two gangs of chain snatchers in the limits of P.S. Chatrinaka and recovered from their possession four two wheelers, and four Gold chains.
In the first instance, an ex-offender Mohd. Javeed @ Hakla Javeed, s/o. Mohd. Dastagir of Bandlaguda and his associate Syed Afroz @ Affu, s/o. Syed Multani of Bandlaguda were apprehended at Shiva Ganga Nagar, while moving under suspicious circumstances by SI Mr Ananthaiah and crime staff on credible information. The duo were apprehended while moving under on a Bajaj Chetek Scooter with no number written on the back side. At the instance of the accused Javeed, two more of his associates Syed Wajid, and Shaik Miraj,both residents of Jahangirabad were also apprehended.

Totally three two wheelers and three gold chains weighing 90 grams all worth of about Rs. 3, 20,000/- from the possession of the accused.

In the second instance, this morning another snatcher by name Syed Murtuza Ali @ Mustafa of Bandlaguda was arrested while he was attempting to snatch a Mangalsutram from neck of the complainant at Rajannabowli, Shivajinagar red-handed. He was apprehended along with the Motorcycle Honda Unicorn he used for committing the offence. At his instance a gold chain was recovered weighing 20 grams, which was stolen from an old women at Chatrinaka. He is first time offender. He started committing thefts of gold chains after reading news and wanted to make easy money.

In view of the recent spurt in reporting of chains snatching cases in the area, the police Chatrinaka distributed pamphlets in telugu educating the public about the chain snatching and making them take certain precautions. The strategy helped and offenders were arrested with the help of the public themselves and all the cases report this year at the police station were detected. The two women who helped the police in apprehension of the accused have been rewarded by the police.

The above gangs were arrested by S.I Mr S. Ananthaiah and crime staff and investigated by Mr. K.Uma Maheshwar, Rao, Detective Inspector & N. Shyam Prasad Rao, Inspector of Police, Chatrinaka under the supervision of Mr.K. Jagannadha Reddy Asst. Commissioner of Police, Falaknuma Division under the guidance of Mr N. Madhu Sudhan Reddy ,Joint Commissioner of Police, South Zone.(NSS)
