Hyderabad: The Telangana Auto Drivers Joint Action Committee convenor, Mr Mohd Amanullah Khan, has announced that the auto drivers in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad would go on indefinite strike from May 30 midnight if the existing auto fares are not increased by the State government within a week.

In a pressnote issued here on Sunday, Mr Amanullah Khan demanded immediate suspension of the ongoing meter recalibration work as per the existing minimum fare of Rs 14 and Rs 8 extra per kilometer in order to save the auto drivers from frequent meter recalibration expenses.

Meanwhile, the auto drivers would stage a dharna on May 24 at the Transport Bhavan, Khairatabad at 10.30 am against the government’s inordinate delay in increasing the auto fares in conformity with the hike in petrol price, he added. (NSS)
