Hyderabad: The Minister for IT, Mr Ponnala Laxmaiah, on Saturday felt that the infrastructure development facilities like Rajiv Gandhi International Air Port, Outer Ring Road, P V Express Highway and Metro Rail Project would attract entrepreneurs to put huge investments around the city.
Inaugurating NSL SEZ in GGK Technology at Uppal, Mr Laxmaiah said that several surveys in the world have found that Hyderabad was the best destination for investments in IT sector. He pointed out that a number of world famous IT firms have set up offices in Hyderabad. The State government will develop required infrastructure and facilities in second level towns in addition to Hyderabad and make efforts to attract IT companies. He also pointed out that IT companies have come up in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada cities in the recent past.
The Minister also revealed that the Planning Commission had approved the Rs 2,380-crore proposal of Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) which was planned by IT department in Hyderabad. The ITIR was asked not to confine IT sector to a particular area in the city and expand it to other areas. In this regard, the ITIR has taken up the Rs 2,380-crores project to develop infrastructure and facilities in the areas around the city.
After obtaining permission from the IT and Communication department, the works of ITIR would be launched, he added. The ITIR would also help expand IT companies to Maheshwaram, Uppal in addition to Gachibowli and Kondapur, he added. Under the projects, the facilities of roads, communications and others would be developed in these areas, he added.
The Minister for Panchayat Raj, Mr K Jana Reddy, the Uppal MLA, Mr Raji Reddy, the Infotech Managing Director, Mr G V R Mohan Reddy, the GGK founder, Mr Palreddy Shyam and the Director, Ms Shanthi, were also present. (NSS)
