CLP hails appointment of Botcha as PCC chief

Hyderabad: Exuding confidence that Mr Botcha Sathyanarayana would discharge his duties successfully as PCC Chief and rejuvenate the Congress Party, the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) has said that Mr Botcha’s style of functioning would remove the hurdles that the party was facing now.

Speaking to the media at CLP office here on Wednesday along with the Legislative Council Whip Mr Y Shivarami Reddy, the PCC official spokes person and MLC Mr Paladugu Venkat Rao has said that he has confidence that Mr Botcha will work up to the expectations of the high command. He said that Mr Botcha was a leader but one can see in him a party worker. He knows very well the art of mingling with the people, he added.

Blessing Mr Botcha success as PCC Chief, Mr Venkat Rao said that the party was in lot of troubles now, and the PCC post was not a bed of roses. He advised Mr Botcha to bring new blood and give the required priority to them. He warned the party leaders to be ready for sacrifices if they wanted to continue in the party, and said that the leaders have to behave above caste politics. He stated that the new PCC Chief has the responsibility of upholding the ethics of the party, and advised him to work actively to bring out the party from various problems.

Praising Mr Botcha’s ability to talk softly with any type of person, Mr Venkat Rao said that the Chief Minister and other party leaders could reach the people when the party was free from problems. He opined that the party should not budge for any leader, and then only party could be strengthened.

Responding to a query Mr Venkat Rao said that some former PCC Chiefs held both positions, but for short period. He said the high command would decide on Mr Botcha holding two posts.When asked whether the high command appointed Mr Botcha as he was in favor of separate Telangana as claimed by some, Mr Venkat Rao said that the high command appointed him because he knew the feelings of party workers well. Responding to another question, Mr Venkat Rao said that the Chief Minister Mr N Kiran Kumar Reddy’s functioning was good, and he was addressing the grievances of the people. He hoped that both Mr Botcha and Mr Kiran would work in tandem to strengthen the Congress Party.

Expressing happiness over the appointment of Mr Botcha as PCC Chief, Mr Shivarami Reddy said that Mr Botcha has the rare quality of understanding the problems of the common man and solving them easily. Exuding confidence that both the Chief Minister and new PCC Chief would move the Congress party forward in the State, he said that both the leaders have to work in tandem like two-sides of a coin. He said that Botcha’s appointment as PCC chief was a good sing for the party in the State, at the time a young person like Mr Kiran was holding the Chief Minister post.
