Hyderabad: Requesting the State government to order a detailed inquiry into the illegal mining in Bayyaram of Khammam district, the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) said that it will take up ‘Mines Protection Padayatra’ in Khammam district from May 7 onwards.

Speaking to the media at CLP office here on Thursday, the Government Chief Whip Mr Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Whip Mr Kondru Murali and AICC secretary and MLC Mr Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy have said that the Congress government was wedded for protection of the rights of ‘Girijans’. Mr Vikramarka has said that according to 1/70 Act, the ‘Girijans’ have to enjoy the rights on natural resources and forest produce. But at Bayyaram, outsiders are carrying on illegal mining in flagrant violation of the 1/70 Act, he said and added that the local Congress leaders have represented to the government demanding that justice should be done to the ‘Girijans’. He said that he would represent to the Chief Minister on this issue soon after getting full information on illegal mining in Khammam district. He said that he will put efforts to implement the Girijan Co-operative Society’s proposals relating to irrigation and establishing hydel power projects in tribal areas.

Stressing the need for an in-depth inquiry into illegal mining through ‘binami names’, he said that the government has to check the bank accounts of the contractors to find out whether the mining was legal or illegal. He said that the contractors were illegally mining with binami names. Changing the name of Siripuram as Sheripuram, the contractors were resorting to illegal mining in Khammam district. He said that he would request the government to order for a detailed inquiry into it.

Responding to a question Mr Vikramarka said that the YSR Congress Party Chief Mr YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has to show the details of all the money he was spending in Kadapa elections, and the money being spent on news in Channels and Newspapers in his affidavit submitted to the Election Commission.

Mr Sudhakar Reddy has alleged that Non-Girijans were resorting to illegal mining in Garla and Bayyaram areas submitting false information to the Courts. He said that there was a writ petition in the Court regarding the illegal mining. Urging the Government to withdraw the lease agreement regarding Bairitis and Dolomite mines, he said that the Central government has already stopped mining in Bayyaram area. He said that he and other leaders including Chief Whip Mr Bhatti Vikramarka and other local leaders would participate in the proposed ‘Mines Protection Padayatra’ in Khammam district to stop illegal mining in agency areas. He said that the government should initiate action against the contractors, whether they are from Kadapa or somewhere else, if their illegality was proved.

Making it clear that casting vote to the YSR Congress Party Chief Mr YS Jagan Mohan Reddy amounted to casting vote to BJP, Mr Ponguleti has alleged that Mr Jagan and his mother Ms Vijayamma’s tone was like BJP’s tone in Kadapa by-election campaign. He alleged that casting vote to Ceiling Fan was nothing but casting vote to “Gali’ Janardhan Reddy.

Mr Murali appealed to the Kadapa voters to cast their vote to Congress candidates. (NSS)
