CM, Governor leave for Puttaparti, PM & Sonia to arrive

Hyderabad: The Governor, Mr E S L Narasimhan, and the Chief Minister Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, have left by a special helicopter to Puttaparti, from the Begumpet airport.

They will be attending the funeral of Bhagwan Satya Sai Baba there on Wednesday. The Chief Minister and the Governor would stay for the night in Puttaparti after seeing off the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, and the Congress president, Ms Sonia Gandhi, who will be arriving in the evening. The Governor and the Chief Minister would attend the funeral of Satya Sai Baba on Wednesday.

The Anantapur district Collector, Mr Janardhana Reddy, has informed that the last rites of Satya Sai Baba would be performed between 0900 and 1030 hrs on Wednesday. He said while the devotees waiting for Darshan of Baba would be permitted till the evening, Darshan of Baba’s Maha Samadhi would be permitted from 1200 hrs on Wednesday. He appealed to the devotees not to come to Puttaparti till Wednesday afternoon.


Special trains run by the Railways from Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Secunderabad have reached Puttaparti in the morning. APSRTC has arranged 60 buses to carry the devotees to the Prasanti Nilaya. (NSS)
