Hyderabad: The State Economically Backward Classes Welfare Association president, Mr Vallapureddy Ravinder Reddy, has requested the Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, to take immediate steps to establish welfare hostels for the students hailing from the EBC communities on the lines of those for the students from the SC, ST and BC communities to enable them to pursue higher education.
According to a pressnote here, Mr Ravinder Reddy lamented that many students from the economically backward classes’ communities were not able to pursue higher education and were settling as labourers on account of financial stringency. “Around 80 per cent of the 3.70-crore families from the EBC community in the State were poor and it was a matter of shame on the part of the State government for not providing welfare hostels for such poor students”, he added.
Mr Reddy demanded that the Chief Minister initiative steps to provide welfare hostel facility to the students from the EBC communities. (NSS)
