Hyderabad: The State government through Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) with assistance from Union Ministry of Urban Development, is preparing a Comprehensive Transportation Study (CTS) for the Hyderabad Metropolitan Area (HMA) by LEA Associates South Asia Pvt. Ltd., (LASA). The study will be carried out in the entire HMA which includes Hyderabad district, substantial parts of Ranga Reddy district and portions of Medak, Nalgonda, and Mahbubnagar districts.

The Study is intended to develop a comprehensive transportation plan for short, medium and long-term period for HMA to provide necessary transport infrastructure in an integrated way to efficiently handle ever growing traffic and transportation problems within HMA. Amongst number of Surveys required to be undertaken, Home Interview Survey (HIS) of selected sampled households is one of the important components of the study. The survey is being carried out by LASA with the help of Development and Research Services Pvt. Ltd.

Over 30,000 households will be sampled and interviewed during the course of the Home Interview Survey covering areas under GHMC, Secunderabad Cantonment Board, villages within HADA and many villages within HMA (Portions of Medak, Nalgonda and Mahaboobnagar Districts). Field investigators from LASA and DRS will be visiting the households for the purpose of interviews.

The HMDA appeals to the residents of HMA to extend co-operation to the field investigators in conducting the interviews and in gathering of the necessary information. The information collected will be utilized in estimating travel demand of the residents for better understanding and planning commensurate transport infrastructure in Hyderabad. The information collected through this survey shall be exclusively used for study purpose.
