Hyderabad: The Congress Party on Friday complained to the Chief Electoral Officer, Mr Bhanwarlal on the propagation of “Ceiling Fan Picture”, which was election symbol of YSR Congress candidates, by publishing advertisements in Sakshi news paper,and its distribution free of cost in Kadapa Parliamentary constituency and Pulivendula Assembly segment, where by-elections are to be held.
A delegation of the Congress party comprising of PCC Vice President, Mr Madasu Gangadhar and the General Secretary, Mr Rudraraju Padmaraju met the Chief Electoral Officer in his chamber, Secretariat here and presented a memorandum in this regard. They also brought to the notice of the CEO the misuse of Sakshi TV and Sakshi daily, which were owned by Mr Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, for the purpose of elections.
Reminding that ceiling fan symbol was allocated for Kadapa Parliament candidate, Mr Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and the Pulivendula Assembly segment candidate, Mrs Vijayamma for by-elections, they strongly objected to the blatant use of Sakshi TV and Sakshi news daily for promoting their symbol and for airing atrocious and malicious propaganda with severe derogatory remarks on AICC President Mrs Sonia Gandhi and the State Congress party leaders.
They demanded for corrective measures by Election Commission like stoppage of advertisements and misuse of brand of ceiling fans like Vijay, Khaitan and Orient for political purpose. The Election Commission should take action against the Sakshi TV and news daily for giving publicity to YSR Congress candidates, they urged.
They also complained to the CEO against Kadapa Circle Inspector for conducting raid on the hotel room of the Minister, Mr Kanna Laxminarayana when he was away. They reminded that Mr Kanna Laxminaryana was in-charge of Kadapa Parliamentary constituency for election campaign of the Congress party. (NSS)
