Hyderabad: The Congress MLAs from Telangana on Friday joined chorus with the TRS legislators on State bifurcation resulting in the adjournment of the House for a day.
The TRS members rushed to the podium and continued protest even after the House met again at 12.10 pm after second adjournment. Holding placards, they shouted slogans demanding introduction of Telangana Resolution in the House. The TDP rebel MLA, Mr Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, also joined the protestors.
The Congress legislators from Telangana also stood up at the edge of the well and displayed placards by shouting slogans. The placards of Telangana Congress MLAs had picture of Ms Sonia Gandhi and “Jai Telangana” slogan.
Meanwhile, the Jagan group MLAs from Telangana region, Ms Jayasudha and others also rose on their feet and exhibited placards having slogan of “Jai Telangana” without Ms Sonia Gandhi’s picture.
Making an appeal to the agitating members, the Minister for Legislative Affairs, Mr D. Sridhar Babu, said that the Assembly was a floor to discuss the burning issues of the people. The members can express their opinions and sentiments on any issue during the discussion on the Budget. “We should make an appeal to the people to ensure smooth conduct of Intermediate examinations. Hyderabad and other cities were also facing sanitation problem due the agitation. Keeping in view the problems being faced by the people, the House needs to discuss and find a solution to them”, he added.
When his request to the agitating members to go back to their seats did not evoke response, the Deputy Speaker, Mr N Manohar, who was in the chair, adjourned the House at 12.15 pm to meet at 9 am on Saturday. (NSS)
