New Delhi: Amidst the threats of intensified agitations by the various separate statehood protagonists, a Congress leaders’ delegation from Telangana will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi on Thursday evening, in a bid to mount pressure on the Centre to take an early decision.
According to reports, the Telangana leaders have been given an appointment to meet Dr Manmohan Singh at 5.30 PM on Thursday to discuss the Telangana issue.
Sources say that the delegation consists of MPs, Ministers, MLAs and MLCs from Telangana region, who will use the opportunity to explain to the Prime Minister about the prevailing situation in Telangana and mount pressure on him to stand by the December 9, 2009 statement of Union Home Minister P Chidambaram.
Sources say that Congress Core Committee members will also participate in the meeting.
The meeting of Telangana leaders with Prime Minister assumes importance in the wake of TRS and other parties planning a series of agitations from July if the Centre failed to make announcement on the separate statehood demand.(INN)
