Congress dithers about Telangana meet

Posted by on July 23, 2011 0 Comment

The formal talks between the Telangana Congress leaders and the AICC general secretary, Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad, that was scheduled for Friday was postponed to Monday as the Telangana leaders could not finalise the 10 who would actually participate in the dialogue. The Telangana Congress ministers who are in New Delhi are now in two minds about whether to resume their duties or not.

The leaders comprising ministers, MPs and legislators were supposed to finalise 10 names to form a delegation which would formally initiate the dialogue with the AICC general secretary on Friday evening. However, during their internal meetings, it was felt that the talks should not be allowed to continue for an indefinite period without a fixed agenda on Telangana. They also could not finalise the list of 10 leaders to represent them.

Later, the Minister, Mr K. Jana Reddy, and the MP Mr K. Kesava Rao, met Mr Azad and informed him that they would only discuss Telangana-specific issues and that there would be no meaning in the talks unless they were confined to a specific agenda on the formation of a Telangana state.
