Hyderabad: Demanding the resignation of Union Textiles Minister Dayanidhi Maran following the allegations of pay offs in 2G Spectrum allocation against him, Communist Party of India general secretary A B Bardhan on Monday expressed solidarity to civil rights activist Anna Hazare and yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Monday.

The expression of solidarity to the yoga guru is sure to raise many an eyebrow, coming on back of allegations that Baba Ramdev is backed by the Bharatiya Janata Party, a party which the Left has often described as communal.

Mr Bardhan told media persons at Maqdoom Bhavan that the Left parties have time and again raised the issue of corruption and black money and hence he was supporting the fight launched by the civil rights activist and the yoga guru.

The veteran Left leader also demanded that the Congress-led UPA government reveal complete details about the 2G spectrum allocation scam as lakhs of rupees of public money is involved.

Mr Bardhan further stated that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has no moral right to continue with Mr Maran in the Union Cabinet till his name is cleared.

The veteran left leader also lent support to calls that the Prime Minister’s Office and Judiciary be brought under the ambit of the Lok Pal Bill.

The CPI leader also alleged that the Centre had spoiled the lives of Girijans and tribals by giving their lands to POSCO.

Stating the Left parties had opposed the land acquisition in Nandigram, he alleged that the government had planned to hand over 4,000 acres of land to POSCO without any agreement.

The government has registered cases 140 against Prathirodh Samiti leader Abhay Sahu for fighting against POSCO, he alleged.

He demanded that the government amend laws for acquisition of lands for industries. (INN)
