Hyderabad: The CPI-ML People’s War leader Dunna Kesava Rao, 41, with many aliases, surrendered before the Director General of Police, here on Wednesday to join the mainstream of society.
According to the Director General of Police, the surrendered Naxalite Kesava Rao alias Azad, Maheshanna, Lenju, Anand, Babulu and Nikhil son of late Appa Rao of fishermen community (Palli), belongs to Nallabodduluru village under Mandasa mandal of Srikakulam district. He was involved in a number of offences in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, including attacks on police stations, murder of policemen and so on. He was carrying a reward of Rs ten lakh on his head.
He stated that Dunna Kesava Rao studied up to Class X at Haripuram village in Mandasa mandal and married Vanthala Yendamma alias Jyothakka of Tadikapalem of Visakhapatnam district, who surrendered to police in 2005. He later married one Prameela alias Runitha, who was recently arrested by Odisha police this month.
The DGP stated that Kesava Rao joined the CPI (ML) PW in 1990 and worked in Uddanam area of Srikakulam district in various capacities till 1997. Later, he worked as deputy commander of Yellavaram dalam of CPI (ML) PW. Later he was promoted as DCM of Basadhara Divisional Committee of Andhra-Odisha border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC).
He was now working in Odisha State Organising Committee (ORSOC). He held senior positions as State Committee Member in ORSOC and AOBSZC. His surrender is a big blow to AOBSZC and ORSOC of CPI (Maoist), the DGP added. (NSS)
