CPI Slams Govt For Running House Sans Quorum

Hyderabad: Alleging that the State government was not following the traditional conventions in running the Assembly, the CPI has said that it boycotted the House in protest against the government’s intransigent attitude.

Speaking at the Assembly media point on Saturday along with the party MLA, Mr U Yadagiri Rao, the CPI floor leader, Mr G Mallesh, said that only some 50 members, including ministers, were present in the House. The ruling party, which has scant respect for the Opposition parties, was running the House without their participation. He said that the ruling party MLAs from Telangana region too boycotted the House demanding introduction of Telangana Bill in the ongoing Parliament budget session.

Replying to a question, Mr Mallesh said that though there was no quorum in the House, the government went ahead with taking up the business of the House. (NSS)
