Hyderabad: The noted film director, Dr Dasari Narayana Rao, has announced that he would donate Rs 3 lakhs for the surgery of famous dance director Salim Master, who was in financial problems.
Responding to a news story by a Telugu news channel that the dance director is now in a financial crisis and is living with Rs 3,000 being given by the association of dance directors every month, Mr Dasari told the channel that he would bear the entire treatment and surgery cost even if it were to exceed Rs 3 lakhs. Stating that Salim was very close to him, he said that he did not know about his condition so far. Dr Narayana Rao said that Mr Salim had choreographed 49 out of his over 100 films.
The channel has conducted an interview with the dance director and called upon film personalities to respond to his present situation. The senior film producer and former MP, Mr D. Rama Naidu, also announced that he would render financial help to the ailing dance director.
Mr Salim has the unique distinction of directing three chief ministers, M G Ramachandran, Jayalalita and N T Rama Rao when they acted in films. He has choreographed for hundreds of films in Telugu Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. (NSS)
