Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Committee of Dalita Bahujana Party here on Tuesday demanded that the Union government declare Hyderabad as second capital of the country as suggested by father of the Constitution, Dr B R Ambedkar. It also urged the Centre that Hyderabad be declared as a Union Territory.

In a pressnote here, the DBP State unit president, Mr S N Ali, has stated that the people of the Greater Hyderabad will be rendered gross injustice if it was tagged with separate Telangana State. Condemning the “unnecessary fuss” being created by some Telangana organisations against execution of Metro Rail Project in Hyderabad, Mr Ali threatened to launch an agitation if the Union government failed to respect the sentiments of Hyderabadis and went ahead with formation of separate Telangana with Hyderabad.

The DBP leader also welcomed the decision of the Centre to go in appeal to the Supreme Court against the ruling of High Court Judge who had directed the government to make the Eighth chapter of the Justice B N Srikrishna Committee Report public. Defending the Justice Srikrishna Committee report on State bifurcation into Telangana and Seemandhra States, status of Hyderabad and so on, he feared that physical attacks on Muslim and Christian minorities, SCs and STs would increased and cosmopolitan culture of Hyderabad would be destroyed by the majority community. He substantiated his charge by pointing out that a church in Sriram Basthi in Mehdipatnam was demolished by caste Hindus at the instance of the BJP. (NSS)
