Hyderabad: The new Director General of Police (DGP), Mr V. Dinesh Reddy, on Friday called on the Chief Minister, Mr N Kiran Kumar Reddy, in the Secretariat and thanked him for providing him an opportunity to head the police department in the State.
Speaking to mediapersons after meeting the Chief Minister, Mr Dinesh Reddy said that his aim was to ensure that the people, who come to police stations in search of solutions to their problems, leave the police stations with smiling faces. He was also happy over getting an opportunity to head police department, which got recognition as effective one in the country. He reminded that 1.44 lakh policemen were working round the clock to protect law and order in the State, he added.
Referring to the increasing new forms of crime like cyber crime and white collar offences, the DGP said that he would modernize the State police to effectively tackle them. Hi-tech. equipment would be provided to the police to investigate the cyber crimes that would help check the new forms of crimes. On the increasing crime rate in Hyderabad, Mr Reddy said that he would review it with the Hyderabad and Cyberabad police commissioners.
