Hyderabad: The DIETCET examination for filling seats in the D.Ed. Colleges commenced all over the State on Sunday. A record number of 30 students are writing the examination for each seat.
This is the examination in which maximum number of students are participating, after EAMCET. For the 11,000 seats 3.19 lakh students are competing. The demand for the course has increased because of creation of quota of 30 per cent for the D.Ed. candidates in the Secondary Grade Teacher posts, because of the Supreme Court order, from 2008. Last year, only 1.08 lakh students have attended the examination.
The Education department authorities have said that they have set up 1,362 examination centers for the examinations. While a maximum number of 29,984 candidates are appearing from Mahbubnagar, a minimum number of 4,554 are appearing from Hyderabad. (NSS)
