Hyderabad: Law and Courts Minister Erasu Pratap Reddy maintained that the issue of Telangana should be solved amicably and through discussions, as this was the only option.
“Whether it is one month or two months discussions must be held to thrash out a solution,” said the Minister on the spur-of-the-moment interaction with media persons at the Secretariat on Saturday.
The Minister said that he been told by Congress In-Charge of Andhra Pradesh Affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad during a meeting recently that he (Azad) would speak to all the leaders on the said issue.
Asked about the stand of Seemandhra leaders, Mr Pratap Reddy gave his personal opinion that ‘discussions’ were the only alternative.
The Minister, who represents Srisailam Assembly constituency in Kurnool district, had been inducted into the state Cabinet for the first time though he won the seat for three terms as an MLA.
Mr Pratap Reddy had lost his Atmakur constituency after reorganization of constituencies in 2009 and is known as an undisputed politician and a strong party loyalist.
Asked to comment on YSR Congress Party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy moving the Supreme Court, the Minister doubted the integrity of the former. “If you are honest, where is the necessity to run after the Apex Court?” he shot back.
The Minister found fault with the Ysr Congress Party chief for seeking a stay on the direction of the High Court which had earlier directed the Central Bureau of Investigations to probe into his assets and ill gotten wealth, under the cover of his father and former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy is expected to visit Guntur district and the Law Minister has been appointed as the In-Charge Minister of the district.(INN)
