New Delhi: All India Congress Committee Official Spokesman Manish Tiwari on Monday stated the regional demands in the country would put national interests in jeopardy.
Talking to media persons, Manish Tiwari said that the regional demands like formation of separate states would put national unity and integrity at a stake.
Stating the Telangana issue as `sensitive’ and `emotive’, the official spokesman appealed to all region leaders to observe restraint and remain calm until Centre finds a solution to it.
Responding on linking of Gorkhaland issue in West Bengal to Telangana state issue, he appealed to all leaders not to link the issue with other states and advised the leaders not to make any provoking statements disturbing the people’s sentiments.
He added that the Centre would make efforts for addressing the Telangana state issue without affecting the national interests.
The resignation of elected representatives for the cause of Telangana to mount pressure on the Centre will not solve the problem.
He said the problem can be solved only through consultation process with both sides of leaders only.
He appealed to both region leaders to come for dialogue to find an effective solution to the’ T’ issue.(INN)
