Don’t quit, Azad pleads with MPs

Posted by on July 30, 2011 0 Comment

The AICC general secretary and incharge of party’s state incharge, Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad, has embarked on an exercise to convince all Telangana MPs to withdraw their resignations immediately.

He invited all the 10 MPs who have resigned for a meeting on Friday evening, but only three turned up. Mr Azad reportedly said that since the Congress high command has begun the process of sounding out leaders belonging to all three regions, it is not right for the MPs to persist with their resignations and create problems for the party in the Monsoon Session of Parliament when a number of important Bills will be tabled. He said the Lok Sabha Speaker could accept or reject the resignations so it is better the MPs withdraw the resignations. Deccan Chronicle
