Hyderabad: The draw of lots for selection of Haj pilgrims will be held at 11 am on May 11 at the Haj House, Nampally here.
In a pressnote issued here today, the AP State Haj Committee executive officer stated that a meeting of the Haj Committee has decided to hold the Qurrarh (draw of lots) on the district wise Muslim population. He stated that this year the Haj Committee received a total of 16,983 applications out of which 1,755 applicants will be selected under reservation categories and qurrarh will be held for the remaining 15,228 applicants. Efforts would be made to get the Passports of eight months validity for those selected applicants who do no possess the International Passports.
The meeting chaired by its chairman Janab Syed Khaleeluddin Ahmed was attended by its members Ms Mallika Begum, Janab Shaik Shareef, Moulana Mufti Sadeq Moiuddin, Janab Syed Raza Hussain Azad, Janab Mohammed Habeeb Ahmed, Janab Mohammed Baig, Janab Mahmood Hussain, Janab Alhaj Mohammed Pasha and Janab G. Mohammed Peeran (executive officer).
The meeting also decided to make representations to the Ministry of External Affairs and the Haj Committee of India for enhancement of the quota for the State. The executive officer is being sent to Mekkah KSA as Building Selection Team member for selection of accommodation to Haj pilgrims there. It was also decided to hold interviews for selection of Khadimul-Hujjaj from all the three regions of the State on May 17 at the Haj House.
The meeting also prayed for the early recovery of the MIM Floor leader Janab Akbaruddin Owaisi. (NSS)
