Hyderabad: The PCC Chief, Mr D Srinivas, has made it clear that he was not in the race in the Legislative Council elections and his future was in the hands of the AICC president, Ms Sonia Gandhi.
Speaking to the media after a meeting with the Chief Minister, Mr N Kiran Kumar Reddy, here on Saturday, Mr Srinivas said that he has great respect for Ms Sonia Gandhi and would accept whatever position she offers to him. He also said that the Congress would announce its candidates for the MLCs tonight or tomorrow.
Denying the allegations that the State did not get its due share in the Congress Working Committee, Mr Srinivas said there was no truth in the allegations. He made it clear that it was up to Ms Sonia Gandhi whether to give the post to a particular person or not. He opined that the selection of candidates for the MLCs depended on their strength. Expressing happiness over appointing Mr Gulam Nabi Azad as an in-charge of State party affairs, Mr Srinivas said that the former had good relations with the State.
Urging the TJAC to postpone the proposed ‘Million March’ in Hyderabad, Mr Srinivas said that it would be good if it postponed the march keeping the students’ future in mind. He said that he would speak to the TJAC convener, Prof. M Kodanda Ram, in this regard. He also revealed that he had requested the Chief Minister, Mr N Kiran Kumar Reddy, to postpone the Intermediate examination scheduled to be held on March 10, the day the Million March to be held.
