Hyderabad: Demanding the regularisation of contract and outsourcing labour, the employees of the State Tourism Development Corporation Contract employees Union on Tuesday laid seize to the Tourism Bhavan, here.
Addressing the huge gathering of employees, the working president, Mr Bose said that despite representations to former chief ministers, the late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and Mr K Rosaiah and the former Tourism Minister, Dr Geeta Reddy, their pleas were not attended to. Even as the contract as well as outsourcing employees were playing vital role in the State Tourism Department earning huge profits in crores of rupees, they were not getting permanent.
Mr Bose also said that the former Managing Director, Mr B Venkatesham appointed a three member committee in 2009, but its report was not revealed. Recalling that a committee was constituted on October 4, 2010, he said that though it recommended enhancement in the wages of employees, there was no mention by it about the regularisation of employees. He also alleged that the State government has been handing over the properties of the tourism department worth in crores of rupees to the private people and firms for a paltry amount.
Hence, he demanded that all the contract as well as outsourcing employees should be made permanent. He said that promotions should be given to the contract employees on the basis of their seniority and eligibility. He demanded for the release of orders for the employees who have been working on daily wage over the last couple of years. He insisted that the transport units at Kurnool and Vijayawada should be started immediately. He also demanded the State government to scrap privatisation of the Tourism Bhavan and the Yatri Nivas.
