Hyderabad: Telangana Employees Joint Action Committee president Swamy Goud on Wednesday stated that the employees have decided to strike work from August 1 pressing for Telangana state formation and the injustice meted out to them in the state.
Talking to media persons after emerging out of Steering Committee meeting of all employees’ representatives of the region held at TNGO office, Nampally, Mr Swamy Goud said that it was unanimously decided to strike work from August 1.
In this connection, he said the employees’ representatives would serve a notice to state government on July 14.
Mr Swamy Goud disclosed that the employees would serve the notice to Chief Secretary S V Prasad on Thursday evening. He added that the various Employees’ Unions have sought the support of all political parties for the strike.
The TNGOs chief was careful not to close the door of consultations behind him by saying that the employees are ready for discussions if the government invites them. He however added that the employees have no confidence on such talks as such earlier exercises failed to yield any results.
“If the government tries to impose Essential Services Maintenance Act to suppress the agitation, the employees are ready to face any eventuality,” Mr Swamy Goud said.
Stating that 600 persons have died for the cause of statehood so far, the TNGOs chief said that any sacrifice by the employees was very less compared to the Martyrs of Telangana.
Mr Swamy Goud vowed to continue the agitation until the government announces a clear decision on Telangana state formation.(INN)
