Hyderabad: A former employee of a Singapore-based multinational company was arrested here today for hacking local server of the complainant company.
Police have stated that this is a case of securing unauthorised access to the computer system and causing damage, alteration to the data and information with dishonest intention. It was stated that the complainant company Messrs Ivoice Network Private Limited, Kamalapuri Colony, here provides BPO (Business Process Outsourcing services) to the Singapore based company Networks Pte Ltd for VoIP (Voice over Internet protocol/ phone calls through Internet) services.
Police stated that on March 1, they have received a complaint from Mr Balu Visveswar, Managing Director of Messrs Ivoice Network Private Limited that their servers were hacked and several PINs, which are used for making VOIP call were created by unknown persons thereby caused a loss of Rs 6 lakhs. A case in Cr No 04/2011 U/s.66 r/w.43 (a), (d), (i) IT (Amendment) Act 2008 & Sec.420 IPC was registered at Cyber Crime Police Station, CID, Hyderabad.
The technical team of Cyber Crime PS, CID, tracked the hacker Shaik Mahammad Ghouse Bhasa, 30, resident of Venkatagiri, Jubilee Hills, and native of Sankarapuram village, Kadapa district through IP addresses. Ghouse happened to be a former employee of the company. The investigation has established that Ghouse Bhasa teamed with Shekar Cheeday (Kuwait) committed the offence.
The police took the main accused into custody and recovered from him the laptop hard disk used in the commission of offence, cash Rs 50,000 which he gained from Shekar Cheeday through Western Union Money Transfers, a mobile phone and his e-mail Id contents. He was remanded to judicial custody. (NSS)
