Hyderabad: The Minister for Social Welfare, Mr Pitani Satyanarayana, on Wednesday announced that tuition fee reimbursement would be extended to the students of Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions (APSWREI), who got seats in the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
The 10 students of APSWREI, who secured ranks in the IIT entrance test, met the Minister in his chamber in the Secretariat.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Satyanarayana said that since 1998, some 56 students of APSWREI got seats in IITs, which were prestigious technological institutions in the State. He expressed happiness over the 10 students of APSWREI getting ranks this year. In the below 1,000 ranks, APSWREI students bagged five ranks and below 2,000 ranks, there were another five APSWREI students. He congratulated the students who got ranks in IIT examination.
When brought to his notice that some APSWREI students, who got ranks in IIT examination, did not join the courses due to financial problems, the Minister assured that the tuition fee reimbursement would be extended to such students this year.
Out of the 75 students appeared for IIT/JEE, 10 students got selected in which one is lady candidate K. Nirmala belonging to SC community along with eight other SC candidates and one ST candidate J. Mohan.(NSS)
