Former CPI MLA passes away, KCR pays rich tributes

Hyderabad: Paying rich tributes to former MLA of the Communist party of India A Gurunath Reddy on Thursday, Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao described the departed leader as an epitome of simplicity and reminded that he was one of the first leaders to demand a separate Telangana state.

Mr Gurunath Reddy died while undergoing treatment at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences on June 13 at the ripe old age of 99 years. His last were performed at burial grounds in Punjagutta.

“We can never forget Gurunath Reddy’s services to Telangana. He was among the first to agitate for Telangana,” KCR said.

Talking to media persons after placing a wrath on the body of the late leader at Makhdoom Bhavan, the TRS chief called upon party cadre to follow Gurunath Reddy’s ideals and intensify the agitation for the Telangana state formation.

KCR further described Gurunath Reddy as the epitome of simplicity who launched a relentless fight to solve people’s problems.

Gurunath Reddy was first MLA from Siddipet constituency in Medak district.

TRS leader Harish Rao and CPI leader Chada Venkatareddy also paid tributes to the departed soul by placing wreaths.(INN)
