Hyderabad: Protesting against the United Progressive Alliance government’s decision to increase the prices of domestic gas and other petroleum products, senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Bandaru Dattatreya on Sunday warned the state government that his party would launch an agitation against the oil companies unless the hike is not withdrawn.
In a letter to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, copies of which were released to the media, Mr Dattatreya alleged that the UPA government has been increasing the prices of petroleum products in order to protect the interests of oil mafia.
He pointed out the UPA government at the Centre increased the prices 21 times since assuming charges seven years ago.
The senior BJP leader pointed out that the increase in prices of petroleum products would make the common man’s life miserable and he would be unable to bear the additional hefty burden.
Demanding the rollback of the fuel prices, Mr Dattatreya warned that his party would launch an agitation against hike in prices against oil companies.
“Though the oil companies are earning crores of rupees in profits, they are increasing the prices of petro products and burdening the common man, the senior BJP leader pointed out.(INN)
