Hyderabad: The BJP State President and the party floor leader in the Assembly, Mr G Kishan Reddy on Friday demanded extension of the special session of the Legislative Assembly to take up discussion on the issues being faced by the farmers in the State.
Mr Kishan Reddy shot a letter to the Chief Minister, Mr N Kiran Kumar Reddy, in this regard. In the letter, the BJP leader stated that delay in crop procurement and the lack of required seed supply were the major issues being faced by the farmers in the State. The farmers were in distress due to non-availability of MSP in the market and delay in crop procurement. Though the Rabi season has begun, seed supply was not taken up in full swing, he regretted.
“There was also need to discuss the issues of tuition fee reimbursement, textbooks, supply of uniforms to students of welfare hostels in view of the commencement of the academic year in the House”, he added.
He stated that it was unfortunate that the government has decided to conclude the special session only with the election of the Speaker of the legislative Assembly. The people, particularly farmers, would not forgive the government for action. He reminded that election of the Speaker was not taken up during budget session even though the post remained vacant for the last six months. He expressed surprise over calling for special session for election of the Speaker. It was meaningless that the special session was confined to election of Speaker. He also demanded that the government extend the special session to take up discussion on the burning issues in the State.
