Hyderabad: Telangana People’s Front president and Balladeer Gaddar on Tuesday stated that he would launch a hunger strike along with Telangana workers in the second week of August in New Delhi to press for the introduction of Telangana Bill in Monsoon Session of Parliament.
Talking to media persons at Madina Education Centre, Nampally, Gaddar said that he would sit on a hunger fast along with 100 Telangana activists from various people’s organisations.
He said the fast was aimed to take the Telangana statehood agitation to a National level.
Gaddar added that the leaders from Telangana are not in a position to believe the Centre’s statements any more as they were becoming more and more contradictory.
“The Centre must honour the statement made by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on December 9, 2009,” the Balladeer said.
He advised the Telangana political Joint Action Committee chairman M Kodandaram to make concerted efforts for bringing all the disparate groups which have sprung up on one platform to achieve Telangana statehood.
Earlier, the Balladeer filed a petition before the State Human Rights Commission, seeking it to direct the police to give permission to him to visit the students who are on hunger fast at Arts College in Osmania University.(INN)
