Hyderabad: The Telangana JAC Convenor, Prof. Kodandaram, has said that the “Sarva Janula Samme” (general strike) would commence as planned earlier with a minor change.

Talking to the media after a meeting of the JAC, he said while it was decided to organize the strike in two stages, now it would be organized in three stages. Stating that the strike would commence with Maha dharna in Hyderabad on August 17, Mr Kodandaram said it would be intensified from September 6. Asserting that the strike was not against any one, he said everyone in Telangana would participate in the strike. He said there would be a big public meeting in Karimnagar on September 5 and from the next day, the employees, teachers and workers unions would participate in the strike.

Demanding that Police SI examinations should be postponed, he said the JAC would hold discussions with students’ organizations and decide about future course of action on the matter. Maintaining that the movement would be organized in such a way that it would not inconvenience any one, Prof. Kodandaram said that they would tour the entire Telangana region to create awareness among the people.

The BJP senior leader, Mr Ch. Vidyasagar Rao, has said the responsibility of making the general strike a success vested with the political leaders. He expressed doubts if the Congress leaders would participate in the strike. There would be no State Assembly after the strike, he said, adding that there would only be the Telangana Assembly.
