GHMC seeks police help for massive anti-encroachment drive

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation will seek the help of both wings of the city police, (Law and Order as well as Traffic), when it begins to implements an ‘Anti-Encroachment Action Plan’ from July 26 onwards.

In a letter to his officials, copies of which were dispatched to Commissioners of Police, Hyderabad and Cyberabad as well as to Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) and the Deputy Commissioner of Police, GHMC Commissioner MT Krishna Babu said that the GHMC has identified several roads for removal of encroachments and work will begin on this from July 26 in Circles 1 to 18.

Pointing out that the High Court, Lok Ayukta and Human Rights Commission expressed displeasure about traffic situation and encroachments made on the road margins and public places and directed the GHMC to take necessary steps to remove the encroachments, Mr Krishna Babu said that the GHMC has prepared the Action Plan.

The GHMC Commissioner pointed out to the Police officials that earlier there have been incidents where manhandling of GHMC Officers / Officials had taken place for which police are also witness.

“During the encroachment removal drive there is a strong possibility of untoward incidents resulting in law and order problems,” Mr Krishna Babu said and requested the police department to arrange necessary police force to maintain law and order during the course of encroachment removal.

He also directed all the GHMC Zonal Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and Town Planning Staff to bestow their personal attention and adhere to the schedule of the action plan and take up the removal of encroachments in their respective jurisdictions.

Mr Krishna Babu also informed all the Town Planning Staff from chainmen cadre to Additional Chief City Planner, to be available in the field in their respective jurisdiction during the special drive and report hourly through SMS to their next level officer.

According to the Action plan, the anti-encroachment drive will be taken up in Circle 1 and would cover the stretch from Jyothi Rao Phule Statue to ECIL Crossroads and would be taken up on July 26, from ECIL Crossroads to Chakripuram on July 27, from Habsiguda Crossroads to ECIL Crossroads on July 28.

In Circle 2, the drive will take place on the stretch from CCMB to Nagole on July 26, Uppal to Ramanthapur on July 27.

In Circle 3, the drive will take place on the stretch from Dilsukhnagar to LB Nagar Crossroads on July 26, LB Nagar Crossroads to Hayathnagar on July 27, Omini Hospital to Nagole Crossroads on July 26,

In Circle 4, the drive would see the encroachments from Chaderghat to Dilsuknagar demolished on July 26, Chandrayanagutta to Pisalbanda on July 27 and on the Santoshnagar Road on July 28.

In Circle 5, encroachments from Afzalgunj to Gowliguda Bus Depot, Purana Pool to Miralam Tank, and on Usmangunj Road will be taken up on July 26, 27 and 28 respectively.

Circle 6 will see encroachments from Attapur Bridge to Aramghar, Aramghar to Chandrayangutta and on Aramghar to Miralam Tank be demolished on the same dates.

The GHMC will concentrate on Circle 7, that is Humayun Nagar police station to Miraj Hotel, Amba Theatre, Yadav Bhavan via Guddimalkapur Market, Nanal Nagar to Langer Houz on July 26, Nampally Vegetable Market to Mallepally Masjid and Yadav Bhavan Crossroads to Bangaru Maisamma Temple on July 27, Miraj Hotel to Noble Talkies and NMDC to Mehdipatnam on July 28.

The Mehdipatnam Crossroad to Nanal Nagar Crossroad, Mehdipatnam to Gudimalkapur Market will be covered on July 29.

Hotel Ayodhya Junction to Bazarghat Crossroad, Prakash Theatre Junction to Mahatma Gandhi Statue and to Puranapul Crossroad will be covered on July 30.

Besides Tappa Chabutra police station to Puranapul will also be taken up on July 30.

Apart from this, Circle 8 will see the stretches from Taj Hotel via King Koti upto Ramkote Junction, Abids Junction to Hanuman Tekdi via KS Lane up to Sultan Bazaar Road, Ek Minar Masjid to Darusalam Junction via Aghapura to Charkhandil, Koti Andhra Bank to Putli Bowli Junction Koti Andhra Bank to Women’s College via Sultan Bazaar Road.

In Circle 9 the anti-encroachment drive will continue on Narayanaguda Junction to Musheerabad Junction (via RTC Crossroad), Narayanguda Junction to Veersawarkar Road via Kachiguda Railway Station. Musheerabad Junction to Boats Club, Kavadiguda Road, Kachiguda Junction to Tourist Hotel, Kachiguda, RTC Crossroads to Lower Tank Bund via Ashok Nagar Junction (Indira Park Road) Street No 9, Ram Nagar Junction to Musheerabad vai Joshimarg, Vidya Nagar Junction to Adikmet Flyover, Fever Hospital Junction to OU Junction, YMCA to New Science College, YMCA Junction to Kachiguda Junction, 6 No Junction to Ali Cafe via Venkataramana Theatre, Shanker Mutt Road to OU Gate, Shivam Road Junction to 6 No Road.

In Circle No 10, SR Nagar Junction to Balkampet Junction, SR Nagar Community Hall to Balkampet, Chinthal Basthi Main Road, Mythrivanam to Satyam Talkies, Greenlands to Ameerpet Junction and up to Satyam Talkies, Khairatabad to Punjagutta.

In Circle No 11, Sanjeeva Reddy Junction to Erragadda Junction, Sanjeeva Reddy Junction to Kalyan Nagar Junction on July 26, Rajeev Nagar Junction to Borabanda, Vinayak Nagar Bus stop, Road No.12, Banjara Hills,July 27, Road No.10 & 11, Banjara Hills,Film Nagar Apolo Hospital Junction Road and Journalist Colony on July28, Panjagutta to SR Nagar Crossroads, Srinagar Colony to Krishna Nagar Crossroads on July 29, Madhura Nagar Entire Colony Sarathi Studio to Krishnanagar via Yousufguda on July 30.

In Circle No 12,Madhapur Main Road – Kavuri Hills to Kondapur Junction on July 26, Gachibowli Main Road – Gachibowli Flyover to Kondapur Junction on July 27, Kondapur to Hafeezpet Flyover on July 28, Raidurg Junction on July 29.  

In Circle 13, NH-9 HWSS to Miyapur Junction, on July 26, Miyapur Junction to BHEL Junction all along NH-9 on July 27, BHEL Junction up to the end of Circle 12 limits towards RC Puram on July 28, BHEL Junction to Serilingampally Railway Station on July 29, Miyapur Junction to Hafeezpet flyover on July30, NH-9 up to the end of Circle – 13 limits on the NH-9 KM on July 26, Nagar Colony on July 27.

In Circle No, Erragadda Flyover to Godrej Junction on the NH-9, Godrej Junction to Kukatpally Bus stop on July 26, Kukatpally Bus stop to JNTU, JNTU to Hydernagar on July 27, KPHB Colony JNTU to Malaysian Township on July 28, No 4 KPHB Colony Venkateshwara Temple, Nizampet Road, Fathe Nagar to Balanagar Junction on July 29, Narsapur Crossroads to IDPL Colony, Narsapur Crossroads to Ferozguda, Old Bowenpally to Dubai Gate on July 30.

Circle 15 will see the demolition team work at IDPL Junction to Jagathgirigutta Road, Chintal Bus stop to Padma Nagar Phase-II, Shapurnagar Junction to Gajularamaram, Ushamullapudi and IDPL Colony to Suraram limits (State Highway), besides Shapurnagar Junction via Subash Nagar Pipeline Road to NH-9 (Medchal Road).

In Circle 16, anti-encroachment drive would be taken up from Louthkunta Railway Bridge to E-Seva, Alwal, from E-Seva Main Road to Old Alwal (Indira Gandhi Statue), from Kanajiguda AWHO to Satya Sai Enclave, from Doutam Bridge to Loyola College Road, from Laxmikalamandir to West Venkatapuram Last Bus stop, from Yapral (water tank) to Kowkoor (Dargah).

Circle 17 will see GHMC staff work at Mirjalguda Road to Anutex in Malkajgiri, Anutex to Ambedkar Statue at Anand Bagh, Anand Bagh to Neredmet Crossroads, Vinayak Nagar Chowrastha to Old Safilguda.

The Circle 18 will see work on Mettuguda Junction to Tarnaka Junction to Lalapet flyover, Oliphanta Bridge to Warasiguda Junction, SP Road via Paradise, Begumpet, RP Road to Bible House and Bansilalpet Crematorium to SD Road to PG Road via Paradise.

Besides work will also be taken up at Uppal Bus stand to Clock Tower via Secunderabad Station, Palika Bazar and Passport Office and MG Road via Paradise, Mayur Marg Road, St John’s Church Junction to Tukaram Gate via Shenoy Nursing Home, at and around Gandhi Hospital, Padma Rao Nagar, Park 7 Hamal Basthi.(INN)
