Hyderabad: Refuting the charges levelled by the Health Minister and Kadapa Lok Sabha Congress official candidate for the present by-elections Dr DL Ravindra Reddy against the YSR Congress Party Chief Mr YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the YSR Congress Party leader Mr Gone Prakash Rao made it clear that there was no enmity between Mr Jagan and late Paritala Ravi.

Speaking at the Assembly media point here on Wednesday, Mr Gone said that Paritala Ravi was a disciple of late YS Raja Reddy. Describing Dr DL’s allegation against Mr Jagan as unfortunate, he alleged that the TDP Chief Mr N Chandrababu Naidu had harassed late Paritala Ravi. He said that Paritala Ravi had seriously tried to join Congress Party, but late Dr YSR declined to this idea citing the reason that it could attract serious reaction in the Rayalaseema people. Mr Gali Muddu Krishnama Naidu, Mr JC Diwakar Reddy were the witnesses to this episode, he added. He said that it was not correct for a responsible minister to give such statements against Mr Jagan even though the CBI has cleared the case.

Mr Gone alleged that Dr DL was resorting to misuse of power in by-elections and the police removing the YSR Congress was the best example. He said that no doubt the present by-elections were life and death issue for Mr Jagan but at the same time this was more important to the Chief Minister Mr N Kiran Kumar Reddy. He exuded confidence that Mr Jagan and his mother would emerge as winners in the present by-elections and Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy would resign to his post in June or July and a new incumbent would take over. He stated that late YSR family never faced defeat in the elections though many Chief Ministers faced defeat before or after acting as Chief Minister.

He said that there would be tremendous changes after the by-elections in the State and most of the Congress leaders would throng into the YSR Congress Party fold. He stated that there was a chance of mid-term elections and one need not get surprised about it. (NSS)
