Hyderabad, February 4: Telugu Yuvata, youth wing of the TDP, has alleged that the State government had betrayed the BC, SC, ST and minority students and was taking the lives of students of these poor communities by not reimbursing their fees.
In a statement here on Thursday, the Telugu Yuvata State president, Mr Bida Ravichandra Yadav, State Office Secretary, Mr M V Satyanarayana Raju, Telugu Nadu Students’ Federation State president, Mr Nannuri Narsi Reddy, and general secretary, Mr B Dinesh, have warned that they would lay a siege to the Sankeshama Bhavan, headquarters of the Social Welfare Department, if reimbursement was not done immediately.
Stating that the government was even ignoring the directions of the Supreme Court, they stated that one Varalakshmi, a student has ended her life as fee was not reimbursed. They said that there was no response from the government in spite of such a pathetic incidents. They also warned that if any interruption was created to students’ education, the government and the private colleges which were threatening to shut down, would have to face serious consequence.
The student and youth leaders set February 7 as the deadline for reimbursement. They also faulted the Transport Minister, Mr. Botcha Satyanarayana’s statement that there was delay in reimbursement because colleges and students had delayed sending in their applications. They said it showed that there was no coordination between the Social Welfare department, Finance department and college managements. (NSS)
