Hyderabad: The TDP MLA, Mr Revanth Reddy, has alleged that the government went back on its proposal of holding the Speaker’s election through secret ballot as it feared that its official nominee would be defeated.

Speaking at the Assembly Media Point, Mr Revant Reddy said that the government had released a bulletin stating that the election would be held through secret ballot and soon changed its stand and held it through open ballot, as it feared defeat. He said the government, which had already lost the support of people was now fearing that even its own MLAs might turn against it. He said that it was moral defeat for the government.

Another TDP MLA, Mr Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, has faulted the stand of the Congress MLAs supporting the YSR Congress. He charged them with indulging in political debauchery. He said they were spending their day with the Chief Minister and nights with Mr Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
