Hyderabad: The Minister for Finance, Mr Anam Ramnarayana Reddy made it clear here today that the Government was not having an idea of invoking A P Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) against the Telangana employees, who planned for strike after August 1.
While coming out from the C-Bloc, which was housing Chief Ministers’ Office in the Secretariat, Mr Ramnarayana Reddy said that no decision was taken by the government on using ESMA against the employees, who served strike notices. Neither at Chief Minister level nor at cabinet level, the matter of ESMA came up for discussion, he clarified.
Reminding that a cabinet sub-committee was setup on issues of the employees, the Minister stated that the government was ready to implement the agreements arrived at between it and the employees unions’ during the discussion. As part of implementation of the agreement, the Government has issued G Os. The G Os on remaining issues would also be issued soon. When asked bout the allegation of the Telangana Employees JAC that the G Os remained on papers and not seen implementation, he said that the G Os were meant for implementation.
When pointed out that the Telangana employees JAC served strike notice for separate Telangana state, Mr Reddy said: “The Chief Minister and the Chief Secretary will respond on the matter. The cabinet sub-committee was meant for holdings discussions with the employees unions on their issues only, but not separation of the state. The Government is always ready to hold discussions with the employees’ unions on any issue”, he added.
