Hyderabad: The State Government will announce a new electronic and hardware policy in a few months for the next five years to attract more investments and exports in this sector. Disclosing this at a seminar on Manufacturing SEZ in Sri City on Wednesday, Mr. Ajay Mishra, Principal Secretary, Department of IT and Infrastructure & Investment, who was the Chief Guest, said that the state was lagging behind in hardware industry when compared to software industry.
Sri City in association with manufacturers Association of Information Technology (MAIT), Southern Region (an apex not-for-profit body representing the Indian IT communications Technology and electronics hardware manufacturing Industry) organized the seminar which was attended by 50 ICT and electronics hardware manufacturers including senior officials from companies like Nokia, Lenovo, Ramky Group, IPCA, Mahindra & Mahindra and Foxconn.
Mr Mishra said: “The State Government has been proactive in promoting ICT and Electronics Hardware Manufacturing and we are focused on attracting more companies in this sector. As a State initiative, we are not only stressing on Software as an industry but our focus is also on the hardware industry. The Government as a whole is keen to see ICT manufacturers making their presence felt with this new policy to be shortly announced, it will be beneficial for the Industry. Having attracted more then 50 International and Indian companies in a very short span of time, Sri City , I am confident will attract ICT manufacturers in close association with MAIT” .
There were presentations and panel discussions on various topics such as policy & procedural issues with manufacturing in SEZs and Infrastructure being the key challenge for hardware manufacturing.
