Hyderabad: The state government has decided to spend Rs 1350 crore in all for 1.28 lakh members towards Housing for SC and ST families and an additional amount of Rs 20,000 would be sanctioned per head where the victims lost their land or their houses were submerged for various reasons.
All those farmers or individual families who lost their lands due to irrigational facilities would be sanctioned funds for construction of houses under the relief and rehabilitation package, Minister for Major Irrigation P Sudharshan Reddy told media persons at the Secretariat on Saturday.
Addressing a media briefing after meeting Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Mr Sudharshan Reddy said that for other categories, Rs 45,000 is being sanctioned and for SC and ST families Rs 65,000 would be sanctioned. This apart, Rs 53,000 also would be sanctioned to all.
SC and ST persons will get Rs 1,18,000 per head while others will get Rs 98,000 each.
The Minister announced that the rehabilitation and relief for the poor victims was uppermost for his Department.
Asked about the release of water from Nagarjuna Sagar, the Minister clarified that as of now it had a store of 100 TMC of water. Due to scanty rainfall or near drought situation, the water may be released this month, after July 15.
The storage in the Nagarjuna Sagar dam this year as on June 30, has been 314 TMC with no inflows while in 2010 the storage was 228 TMC, he revealed.
The minister refused to elaborate on the subject stating that a committee has been appointed to monitor the situation on Nagarjuna Sagar Project water besides the Water Users’ Associations would decide the extent to be released etc.(INN)
