Hyderabad: Stating that the welfare of the poor, Agriculture, Education, Health and Employment generation are the priority sectors of the state government, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday said that government would constitute a team to work with ‘Facebook’ to improve the schemes and programmes to be more people-friendly.
The Chief Minister was addressing the gathering in the capacity of the Chief Guest in the “Facebook India day” held at Madhapur.
Quoting the captions wrote on the Pillars of the Facebook building; Be bold—Move fast – Be open– Focus on impact – Build Trust;, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy said that the Government is following these quotations and focusing on people to whom the programmes are intended to reach.
The Chief Minister said that Education alone can change the lives of the people and remove social barriers and social evils. “The government will provide 15 lakh jobs in the next three years by upgrading the skills of the unemployed youth through special skill development programmes,” Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy stated.
“The Government is very keen on development of the Education sector. During the ‘Education Fortnight’, the Government is spending Rs 2500 crore on infrastructure to Schools and giving lot of thrust to education and health,” he reminded.
The Government successfully brought back 38,000 school dropouts out of 1.27 lakh during this education fortnight, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy added.
The Chief Minister appealed to the parents to allow the children to grow on their own. “My aspirations are different from my children. Unless we enjoy the work, we cannot develop”, the Chief Minister commented.
The Chief Minister said that TV, Cell Phone, Computer and Internet have changed the lives very fast, and 6000 High Schools were provided with computers in the state and another 4,000 schools would be provided with the same this year.
“All Government Schools will also be provided computers in a phased manner,” he stated.
“We have prestigious educational institutions like IIT, BITS Pilani branch, and many more institutions are coming forward to establish their branches in the State”, he added.
Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy said that the State Government is providing Fee reimbursement and scholarships to 27 lakh students without any caste and creed barriers to the tune of Rs 3500 crore per annum.
“Andhra Pradesh is the only State in the country in extending this facility in such a big way. The Government has spent Rs 2800 crore so far and provided free quality medical treatment through Rajiv Arogyasri to 10 lakh poor people,” he added.
The Chief Minister informed that income generation is very important and the government is striving its best through Industry, IT and ITES.
“Andhra Pradesh is the best in Pharma and IT industry,” he reminded.
Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy complimented the ‘Facebook’ organisation for selecting Hyderabad as their second destination in the world, besides Palo Alto, Dublin and Australia.
“All my family members use ‘Facebook’. I will also try to find out time to operate it’, the Chief Minister promised.
Answering to a query from the gathering, the Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy said that “In politics I am very young, in fact, the second youngest Chief Minister in the country.”
The Government would constitute a team to work with ‘Facebook’ to improve the Schemes and programmes to be more people-friendly, he further said.
“Ours is a very pro-active Government. Our prime objective is to make Hyderabad and Andhra Pradesh as International Destination for investments. We are following transparency in implementing Government Schemes and Programmes. Prestigious “Partnership Summit” in which 1500 world’s top industrialists are to participate will be held in Hyderabad and also Bio-diversity Summit of 130 countries selected our State capital and this will be held in October 2012,” Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy reminded.
Minister for IT and Endowments Ponnala Lakshmaiah said that Hyderabad and Andhra Pradesh are very advantageous for investments and focus would be given for Animation and digital gaming.
IT and C Secretary Sanjay Jaju, Head of Facebook, Australia Paul Borrud, and Director of Online Operations, Head Office, India Facebook Kirthiga Reddy were also present.(INN)
